Happy International Translators’ Day!

Jerome of Stridon lived in the 4th and 5th centuries. He is one of the Catholic saints and a patron saint of translators. Today is the day when he is remembered and the International Translators Day. St. Jerome, author of Vulgate Jerome was the first person in history who translated the Bible from Greek and Aramaic into Latin. This translation was called Wulgata and it took 24 years to prepare it. It should be remembered that the translation process was long and carried out without tools, which are now considered fundamental. Nowadays, tools like dictionaries and CAT tools allow us to translate even the longest texts with the highest quality and consistency in time much shorter than Jerome’s case. The MD Online webinar covering topics related to Translation Memories took place on Thursday, May 28, 2020. The training was attended by 30 translators from all over the world including Poland, Egypt, the Netherlands, the USA, and the UK. Translation Memories (also known as TMs) that were the topic of the webinar is an important factor in maintaining the top consistency of translated text or texts. Systematically updated TMs are a part of MD Online?s quality control system which allows us to deliver high-quality texts, even in a short time. Second webinar “Translation memories” (May 25, 2020)

Here comes the second webinar created by the MD Online team entitled ?Translation Memories?. In this webinar training, you will find out how what are Translation Memories and how to manage them and successfully apply them in your translation projects. Translation Memories often referred to as TMs, are one of the functionalities of CAT tools. In simple words, they are record storage of all texts translated within the translation software. Translation Memories work in two ways ? they store all the translation units (e.g. sentences) while the translator translates a text and at the same time, they analyze the text that is currently being translated and search the database for similar units. If the TM finds such a unit, it automatically puts the text into the editor. In this way, the translator can quickly accept, reject, or modify the TM entry.
